This is my first RPG thread, and it's terrible to be honest.

In this RPG, we are taken back in time to a world without all the technological advancements we take for granted in the modern world. No television, radios, cars and the like. The fastest mode of travel is by horse, for those who can afford a horse.

The country this RPG takes place in is run by a guild of magicians who rule with an Iron Fist. They are corrupt, using their power for their own personal gain rather than for the benefit of the people. The poor can pay no taxes and so are "purged" regularly, driven from the country into the vast seas to drown or be eaten.

You, as a character, are a member of a resistance group aiming to otherthrow the guild of magicians and start a new democratic country. This resistance group requires people with specific skills in order to aid their cause. You are allowed One major skill which you are a master of, and 2 minor skils which you are skilled enough to use competently.

If you wish to play this game please fill out a character sheet like so:

Name:
Age:
Occupation(optional):
Role in guild:
Major skill:
Minor Skills:
Background information:

Here is an example.

Name: Alectus Stern
Age: 42
Occupation: herbologist, owner of a medicine store
Role in Guild: Head doctor
Major skills: herbology
Minor skills: First aid; thievery
Background information: Orphaned as a toddler, Alectus spent his childhood on the streets where he stole to get by. at the age of 12, he was taken as an apprentice by a renowned herbologist. In his teen years he learned quickly how to make the most effective of medicines and dangerous of poisons. After the death of his master, Alectus took control of his business and soon became known as one of the greatest herbologists in the country.

Please note that in this RPG it is not wise to just have a group of warriors who will raid the guild of magicians relentlessly. It would be wise to have many people of different skills, such as medics, smiths, tanners and armourers, even spies, people in charge of finance and hunters/foragers. It is possibly for you to have a major skill in engineering and trying to make technological advancements, however this is immensely time consuming, there are very limited resources, and any largely funded projects will most likely attract the attention of the magician's guild.
Though it is possible to have a discipline of magic as a minor skill, it is not available as a major skill as to achieve master status in a discipline of magic requires you to have been tutored at master level at the guild's university, and you will need to be an active member of the guild.
Spies typically are posted withing the magician's guild and assume the role of a Magician's apprentice. Due to these circumstances, it is manditory to have at least 1 discipline of magic as a minor skill.

Disciplines of magic include:
Battle Magicks(aggressive spells)
Life Magicks (healing, curing of disease and preservation of life)
Communications Magicks (having a greater way with words, particularly in persuasion/interrogation)
Defensive Magicks (usually used to protect against attacks and magic, sometimes used to enchant objects such as armour)
Light Magicks (involving the manipulation of light, the ability to brighten a dark place or create shadow to hide you)
Matter Manipulatiopn Magicks (telekinesis and the such, a greater understanding can allow the user to change matter)
[If anyone thinks up any others, please message me]

I will allow a few days for people to join, and then post daily giving new information of advancements in the resistance group and information on the guil obtained by spies.
I hope this RPG works out

EDIT: The RPG will officially begin on the 27th of october at 6PM GMT-1hr. Anyone wishing to join after this date are welcome to join as long as they PM their character sheet, but they will have to wait until the next day where they will be introduced as part of the storyline. I will try to PM players with the main plot for the next day if I think up a story beforehand

I have no problems with this character, just messaging to say to stop you being too overpowered with the power of teleportation, you're only able to travel to places you have a clear vision of in your head, and it requires a lot of concentration. Also, as you are tought at master level in a discipline of magic, you'll also be a high ranking mage in the Magician's Guild. Considering your knowledge in magic you'd be one of the greater warriors and spies of the team, and should you choose to accept the role, one of my main men in charge of aggrassive resistance.

It is late afternoon and the sun is already setting over the Slums of Geldar. As the members of the Resistance idly sit conferring, a hooded figure bursts through the front door. Removing his hood, the figure is identified to be Rat, the Guild leader.

"I have a mission for all of you. Now, it will be difficult and extremely dangerous but this is the greatest opportunity we will ever have at this. My sources indicate that earlier today, Master Kael Strider, the mage who first proposed the Purge, has received a package containing blueprints of a new 'weapon'. It is our duty as the Resistance to obtain these blueprints and discover the intent of this weapon.
"Now, tonight is the Mage's Guild's annual Grand Feast, which the King himself will attend. Now, due to the occassion, Master Strider will be attending, meaning that his living quarters will be empty for most of the night. This is why we must strike tonight.
"However, due to the King attending the Feast, security is at it's maximum tonight, which means we will need an inside man to provide entrance to the members of the Resistance; that will be me. Our second complication, however, comes from the fact that I am a high ranking guild official. Being so high in the Guild, my father will be expecting me to attend, and my absence from the Grand Table will not go unnoticed. For this reason, we will need a distraction.
"Instructor Acadius, our own Battlemage, will need to provide our distraction. In the midst of the Feast, he will excuse himself from the table, and start a fire in the Apprentice chamber. The fire will be tended to by the mages, but there will be a good enough opportunity for me to escape from the table unnoticed. I will access Master Strider's living quarters and provide your entrance there.
As I said, this is our most dangerous mission to date. Do not come to the Mage's Guild without making proper preparations. Good luck to you all."

Rat pulls his hood back over his head, concealing his face and strides out of the Resistance Guild's Hall into the approaching night.

Arios looked up from his desk at the sudden entrance and listened intently to his leader's words. A plan to sneak in a a group posed as masons was quickly scrapped, the guards would have been informed and they could verify with a higher up quicker than the group could escape. No, instead Arios contented himself with the fact that he had access to the compound and that the others would have to find their own way.
Standing as Rat departed, Arios packed his writing gear away and left the now bustling guild hall. He turned to the stables and outfitted his horse, Archer, with his saddle and prepared to leave.

Isaac sat in a dark corner and listenned to the plan. "Seems simple enough, I suppose...But then again, when does this work ever go to plan?" He thought to himself. He gathered up his equipement, put on his black cloak and flipped up his hood, and followed Arios out the door. Once they were I the stable Isaac quietly approached Arios.

"Hey" Isaac said quietly. Arios spun around, a bit surprised. "What is the plan for getting in? Rat seemed a bit, sketchy, on that detail. Even with the distraction, I doubt security won't notice several armed men enter the building. And it's not like we could exactly walk through the front door, fire or not."

As Arios strode towards the stable, a hooded Rat let the artificial shadow engulfing himself dissipate as he walked towards Arios. "My friend, I see into your heart and see that you are worried that my plan will fail. I would beg you to see how my plan would be the more appropriate course of action, though you are of such a strong will, I doubt even my most persuasive of magic would struggle to bend your will. I will not disapprove of your own plan, but rather use it to my advantage."

Rat reached inside his cloak and produced an envelope. The envelope had the smell of some expensive fragrance, and an unfamiliar seal was stamped across the tongue of the envelope.

"It is with great difficulty that I obtained the stamp of House Gyre from their manse without being caught doing so. Inside is a letter. The letter is addressed to my father, the Grand Master Maeth Alain. The parchment inside the envelope that bears the message is poisoned, so you would do well not to touch it. The poison is a fatal poison, though the ingredients are in disproportion and will cause nothing more than for my father to fall terribly ill for a few days. Please do understand that this poisoning of the Grand Master is a terrorist act, which you too may be arrested for as an accomplice. I assure you though that should you be arrested, I will free you. If you do not wish to perform this task, leave the letter."

At this, Rat placed the envelope on a table and started to walk out of the stable, attempting to cast a shadow back upon himself.

Isaac watched Rat walk away from Arios, oblivious to his own prescense. "Well, I might as well head out." He thought, and he saddled up his own horse. He knew of a safe house, ran by some of his criminal friends, that was only a few blocks away from the guild. He figured that was the safest place to wait until the time came, and he could probably grab a bite to eat while there. He bid god-haste to Arios and set out for the safehouse.

Upon arriving at the safe house, A friend of Isaac runs out to meet him, holding what appears to be a paior of metal balls. "A hooded bloke left these for you earlier today, he said he'll explain later."

Jason was late for the meeting he knew was occuring today in the Slums of Geldar. He had seen another caravan heading away from the town, loaded with weapons, food, and gold. He couldnt resist the temptation so he had raided the cart, attacking from the shadows with his bow, sending the cart owners fleeing back to the towns walls for saftey from their unknown attacker. Jason had then loaded his pack with all of the food and gold he could carry, filled his quiver with brand new arrows, and hurried away before the mages could arrive. He was now riding through town hurrying to the Slums in case someone was still there that could fill him in on their newest assignment. He was riding a black horse he had owned since he was fourteen years old and it had been his most trusted companion.

"Thank you Malek. Now what has Romeo done with the place since I left? Can a man still get soom food and a drink, and what do you have in your armory? Any hidden blades or throwing daggers? Tonight, stealth will be one of my gretaer allies I sense." Isaac said to the petty theif who had greated him apon arrival.

Suddenly, Isaac heard a horse comming down the street. He looked up and saw that it was another resistance member. "Hey, Jason! Over here!" He yelled. As Jason got closer Isaac said "Missed the meeting I see? Oh well, come in here and I will tell you the plan. It is not safe on these streets."

Jason nodded to Issac and dismounted from his horse, picking up the saddlebag that carried all of his looted gold, and food that he had got from the cart. "Ok thank you Issac." Jason said following Issac.

Rat emerged from the shadows and dived to avoid Jason's charging steed. "Jason, you must go steady on your horse. If you ride him too hard, he won't be able to ride fast for very long".

Rat brandishes a dagger from his belt and holds the blade with his gloved hands. He walks to Jason and hands him the blade.

"Elven, and coated in a knockout poison. Your role tonight is to incapacitate the guards tonight. Your role, though minor, is crucial to the plan tonight. Be one with the shadows, and do not let your face be seen. Now, ride hard, put on your most concealing of outfits, and bring your weapon of choice for a dogfight, just in case"

After Rat ran into an alleyway and seemed to disappear into the shadows.

Once they were inside, and had soemthing to eat, Isaac sat down at a table with Jason. He called over Romeo. Isaac turned to Jason and said "Don't worry we can trust this man. His name is Romeo, and he is the head of this criminal safehouse. Now Romeo, I need you to keep the streets open and the safe house guarded tonight, for I shall return to this place once my task is complete."
"Why, what are you planning?" Romeo asked
"I can't tell you, but trust me, you will know it when it happens." Isaac replied. "Now go, I need to talk to Jason alone" Romeo did as he was told, and he left the room.
Isaac noticed a surprised look on Jason's face. He turned to him and said "Surprised that he took orders so easily? Don't be. Before my days in the guild, I was a big name among the under ground. But onto more pressing matters. Rat has hatched a plan to steal a schematic for a new mage weapon. This is of much importance, or else Rat wouldn't be keeping it under raps like this. Essentialy, when he attends the dinner party tonight, he will create a distraction, giving him time to slip away and allow us to sneak in. From there we will sack the guild, making it look like a terrorist strike, to draw attention away from our true goal. Above all else, we have to get away with those schematics, as this is one of the few chances we shall get. If you need a place to hide out for the night, meet me back here. Malek(The door man) will let you in if you tell him I sent you."

Jason had just been given an elven made dagger by Rat, the resistance leader, but he had slipped away before Jason could ask any other questions of him. He only knew that his job was to take out the guards. He tossed his saddlebag to Issac and buckled his new weapon on his belt. Jason said to Issac, "That saddlebag is the reason i was not there for the meeting, and i should say it was probably more fun the than meeting was, am i correct Issac?" He noticed another man in the room, but Issac told him to leave before Jason could ask who it was. He sat down opposite Issac and drew his black cloak around him. "Thank you for the offer, and i shall probably take you up on it, although my mission tonight is to immobilize the guards." Jason told Issac when he offered him to stay the night at the safe house.

Arios was about to respond to the young thief when Rat offered him the poisoned letter. He then turned and walked off, becoming one with shadow. Arios contemplated the the letter for a moment and only then he remembered Isaac's question, but he too had left. Once more alone with Archer and a new possibility before him, Arios contemplated his options.

***

He rode through the darkening streets with earnest, a letter to deliver in his inner pocket. Although, this one was not poisoned. It was one he had written himself, forging the style and signature of a locally rich and self-important merchant, he saw less drawbacks in this new plan.

A short while later he arrived in front of the guards and presented the letter.
"No deliveries tonight, Arrow, sorry," said one of the armed men.
"I can just leave it with you, then? It's not really that important," said Arios. "But I've been riding most the day, d'you mind if I put Archer in the stables here?"
"We have our orders," said a younger guard who was unfamiliar to Arios.
The first guard looked to the younger and laughed, "You don't know Arrow yet, eh? Well we'll let you in on a little secret, seeing as you finished your probation a week ago, Arrow here is one of our most trusted couriers in the Guild. If we want something somewhere fast, we send Arrow, and we ain't ever had a problem yet."
"So you don't mind if I join that card game you boys have and take all your money?" Arios laughed as they opened the gate.
"Sure, why not? I could use a new pair of boots!" the older guard laughed again. "You keep watch, Basdin, it'll be a slow night anyways."

Rat, no longer in his hooded attire but ine brilliant white and gold robes, stood studying his appearance in the mirror of his chamber. "excellent as always Hermes" he said to himself, letting out a slight chuckle. He then moved to his drawer and pulled out 2 ropes made of silk, dark as the night and hard to be seen in darkness. He examined one closely and pondered to himself. "He's in for quite a fall, this is a bit too short". He then moved to his window, opening it and tying the rope to the sill.

***

Moving quickly and shadowed well, Rat edged through the doorway into one of the classrooms. Luck was on his side as Instructor Gibbons had abandoned his classroom to dress for the Feast. Rat quickly tied the other silk rope to the sill of a window, looking down at the moat. "perfect" he said with a smile, before heading off to the hall, ready for the Feast.

Isaac was sitting impatiently in the safe house. Romeo had given him two hidden blades and a short, curver sword, claiming it was all the could spare. Isaac had taken then readily, most of his own weaponry being lost in a previous raid. "Never mess with a vampire clan" his mind cruely reminded him, and he remembered his narrow escape. He looked out the window at the guild and saw a man brilliantly dressed tieing something to one of the windows. "What is he up to" He wondered, but decided not to overthink it. He then looked at the two metal balls he had been given, and contemplated what he would use them for.

Jason had left Issac's safe house long ago and he was back in his home, far out into the country, in the forest. His house had a fire pit where Jason heated the blades he would forge, and an anvil where he would give them shape and edge. Hammers and tongs hung upon one of the walls where, as did a few daggers. Jason stood in his sleeping quarters, where he was pulling on a black cloak. On his back he hung his quiver, and inside that quiver he had placed his bow. On his back beneath the quiver he had placed his twin longswords, both airlooms of his family, that he now used to kill mages. He had placed the elven dagger that Rat had given him on his boot so it would barely be spottable by the guards. He flipped the hood of his cloak up to cover his face and swiftly doused any light in his house. He quickly left his house and saddled his horse that was grazing in a meadow behind his house. He rode away from the darkening forest and towards the mages guild. The sky was darkening and that only made Jason ride faster towards the mages guild.
