Dungeon Runners: Overview
Dungeon Runners was developed and published by NC Soft. Released to the public in May 2007, Dungeon Runners is considered “free-to-play” though there are benefits to the $4.95 monthly subscription fee. Paying customers have access to more character slots as well as better equipment and gold acquisition rates.
Dungeon Runners has fairly standard character classes:
- Fighter
- Mage
- Ranger
However, after completing the first ‘dungeon’ area, players can train in any skill in any character class thereby creating honestly unique characters.
Similar to Guild Wars, Dungeon Runners features mainly instanced play in randomly generated dungeons. While large groups of players can be seen in towns, gameplay is limited to individuals and/or parties once venturing into dungeons.
Through the patching process, called ‘heaving’, several additions have been made to the game including voice chat capabilities, a difficulty slider and PvP play.
Graphically, Dungeon Runners is ‘cartoon-like’ in look and uses a top down, third person view. It has been compared to World of Warcraft in look and feel as well as to Diablo/Diablo II.
